I saw this fascinating show on American Public Television's "Frontline" a while back. You may watch the entire 1 hour show (in parts) on the link. Just click on each picture in order. It was very interesting. You can read a summary on the link too. I know it's alot to ask you to watch a one hour show, so you could just comment on the summary. I'm not implying that these views are the norm in Israel. I am very curious about what our Israeli YA users think of the film, its accuracy, and conclusions. Thanks!

As long as the criminal law is upheld, these extremists will only cause minimal harm.

Virtually every society has extremists -- in that all societies are similar. The differences are in the ways in which the moderate majority deals with them.

If the society genuinely condemns the extremists, criminally prosecutes them for violent activity, and uses its own resources (such as the military) to prevent them from wreaking havoc -- it's a problem FOR THAT SOCIETY.

If, on the other hand, the society's moderate majority either tacitly supports its extremists or turns a blind eye, justifies their behavior, invokes euphemisms for their atrocities, celebrates them, and blames those who REPORT the extremists' crimes for tarnishing that society's image, rather than the extremists themselves -- it's a problem FOR THE WORLD.

That's all I can say about this -- draw your own conclusions.

Nonsense. These people are the most dedicated to the survival of Israel.

There must not be another Arab state in the Middle East.

If people like you are so sure that Palestine, the country, goes back through most of recorded history, I expect you to be able to answer a few basic questions about that country of Palestine:

When was it founded and by whom?

What were its borders?

What was its capital?

What were its major cities?

What constituted the basis of its economy?

What was its form of government?

Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?

Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation?

What was the language of the country of Palestine?

What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine?

What was the name of its currency? Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese yuan on that date.

And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?

You are lamenting the low sinking of a once proud nation.

Please tell me, when exactly was that "nation" proud and what was it so proud of?

And here is the least sarcastic question of all:

If the people you mistakenly call "Palestinians" are anything but generic Arabs collected from all over -- or thrown out of -- the Arab world, if they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination, why did they never try to become independent until Arabs suffered their devastating defeat in the Six Day War?

the U. S. will proceed to help Israel. no longer in basic terms are they our allies, yet in addition they are scuffling with communities that have been categorized as 'professional-terrorism.' i might prefer to indicate out that even nonetheless Israel does its honest share of bombings and assaults, Palestinians are not precisely exempt. to no longer point out that Israel has a suitable to be a sprint gun-shy, the completed area has stated that they like to destroy Israel. till the persons of Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Jordan, and so on., end being so harsh to Israel, then Israel might desire to have not have been given any qualms approximately appearing in its suitable activity.

After watching the report in its entirety, I have to say I am appalled (an understatement).

These extremists THINK they know Judaism, when in fact they do not. Judaism FORBIDS revenge. Judaism RESPECTS Muslims.

The cycle of revenge will only bring about death, war, and destruction for everyone concerned.

In order to bring about peace (and I want to believe that most everyone wants that) we have to break the cycle by open communication, by reaching out to each other, and by concentrating on what we do have in common.

So the answer to your question is YES.

Israel has to deal with these extremists lest they disrupt the peace process.

I was glad to see the Israeli Security Service was vigilant when it came to bringing them to justice!

I am very pro-Israel but I think the settlements have fueled political and religious extremism in some areas. It is a problem for the IDF to remove these people. A land swap with financial compensation and/or building of houses is a better solution.

In truth, I do not think any struggle to reign in Israel's extremists would be termed a 'war'. While they have certainly been loud and a source for media attention, they certainly aren't numerous. Personally, I think it a fad, and I think these extremists will exist only as long as there is no final border agreement.

The Israeli government in full control of Israeli citizens. We all did see what Sharon did to the most extremists settlers in Gush Gatif. Jewish extremists are used by the Israeli government for political reasons.

Good question. My answer is no. The country is indeed very divided; however, the situation with the Palestinians and Hizbullah is far more pressing. For now, those factors will help keep the country unified.

If a division of Jerusalem were proposed by Olmert, this might spark a near civil-war. However, I think that the other fronts will open up first.

Haven't seen the film-- I 'll check it out later tonight.

Thanks for the link.

Jews can be extremist ???? Israel have Islam

They are certainly a problem - the example of the assassination of Rabin demonstrated that. The thing is had Arafat accepted peace plan in 2000 none of this would have mattered. Oh well - no reason to cry over spilt milk. But the reality is if the Arabs would just leave the Israelis alone - it is quite possible through their stupidity they will destry themselves.

Good Luck!!!

Forget the movie Obsession; these nutters are the real thing. Gypsies, squatters, vagabonds; the scum of Europe.

Did I hear this reporter correctly? These extremists starting indiscriminate killing of civilians in Palestine to trigger a war, and were the direct cause of the bombing campaigns in the ersatz israel?.

In fact they are not religious…. They are using the name of religion to proceed with their crimes, example, many Palestinians who work illegally in Israel with such Israelis they never get paid after they finish the work, and if you try to shout on him to take your money he will just call the IDF, I am having illegal Palestinian, please come and take him, so if they are religious they will not eat the right of others.

Many of them are gays also, really not joke….

And Israel policy is to give big value for those “religious” Jews to tell the world we occupy this land based on our religion, == ask our religious people they will tell you.

Most of these extremists are not working, the governments feeding them and the rich Jewish just giving them money to produce kids, there femails are always pregnant, and every 310 days they will produce a kid….

So, based on this facts, the answer is no, and in case the government will face any problem with them, the government will just stop feeding them, then they will obey immediately,,,, as simple as that.

Yes maybe it will go out of the ordinary, maybe you will find crazy one to assassinate the prime minister, but I will be individual case.

Nope, but it should be, religion will always cause some kind of problem regardless
