I just think it's worth noting that every single Jew or Israeli gave you a genuine response and related something of peace. EU Citizen also gave a nice response. B gave an answer which, to my mind, was really most unnecessary.

A SONG FOR PEACE שיר לשלום!!!

Let the sun rise

And give the morning light,

The purest prayer

Will not bring us back.

He whose candle was blown out

And was buried in the dust,

A bitter cry won't wake him

Won't bring him back.

Nobody will return us

From the dead dark pit

Here - neither the victory cheer

Nor songs of praise will help.

So sing only a song for peace,

Do not whisper a prayer.

Better sing a song for peace

With a big shout.

Let the sun penetrate

Through the flowers,

Don't look backward

Leave those who departed.

Lift your eyes with hope,

Not through the rifle sights.

Sing a song for love,

And not for wars.

Don't say the day will come,

Bring the day

Because it is not a dream,

And within all the city's squares,

Cheer only peace.

So sing only a song for peace,

Do not whisper a prayer.

Better sing a song for peace,

With a big shout.

Ose/Osey/Oseh Shalom is a good song. Theres a couple different types of that song. Theres a choir kind of version of it, more like an anthem, and theres a worship song like it.

Fatah and Hamas hate each other. The Palestinian Authority, lead by Abbas and Fatah have no control in Gaza. They only control the West Bank.

Every bee that brings the honey

Needs a sting to be complete

And we all must learn to taste the bitter with the sweet.

Keep, oh Lord, the fire burning

Through the night and through the day

For the man who is returning

from so far away.

Chorus:

Don't uproot what has been planted

So our bounty may increase

Let our dearest wish be granted:

Bring us peace, oh bring us peace.

For the sake of all these things, Lord,

Let your mercy be complete

Bless the sting and bless the honey

Bless the bitter and the sweet.

Save the houses that we live in

The small fences and the wall

From the sudden war-like thunder

May you save them all.

Guard what little I’ve been given

Guard the hill my child might climb

Let the fruit that’s yet to ripen

Not be plucked before its time.

Chorus:

As the wind makes rustling night sounds

And a star falls in its arc

All my dreams and my desires

Form crystal shapes out of the dark.

Guard for me, oh Lord, these treasures

All my friends keep safe and strong,

Guard the stillness, guard the weeping,

And above all, guard this song.

Chorus:

For the sake of all these things, Lord,

Let your mercy be complete

Bless the sting and bless the honey

Bless the bitter and the sweet.

Bless the sting and bless the honey

Bless the bitter and the sweet

There are many many Israeli songs which yearn for peace.

Aviv Geffen is an Israeli who has written many very popular songs for peace, for example 'The Hope':

Let's march to the dream

without a race or nationality

let's try

until things will be good

untl they will be

We'll bury the guns

and not the children

(so) let's try

until things will be good

untl they will be

Let's march to the dream...

We'll bury the guns...

We'll capture the peace

and not the territories

let's try

until things will be good

untl they will be

For the eternal freedom

for my children

(so) let's try

until things will be good

untl they will be

Another poignant song for peace is called 'Winter 1973', which expresses the sadness of Israeli children who were born after the Yom Kippur war and have lived through years of peace hopes which still haven't materialised:

We are the children of winter 1973

You dreamt us first at dawn at the end of the battles

You were tired men that thanked their good luck

You were worried young women and you wanted so much to love

When you conceived us with love in winter 1973

You wanted to fill up with your bodies that what the war finished

And we were born the country was wounded and sad

You looked at us you hugged us you were trying to find comfort

When we were born the elders blessed with tears in their eyes

They said:" we wish those kids will not have to go to the army"

And your faces in the old picture prove

That you said it form the bottom of your hearts

When you promised to do every thing for us

To make an enemy into a loved one

You promised a dove,

an olive tree leaf,

you promised peace

You promised spring at home and blossoms

You promised to fulfill promises, you promised a dove

We are the children of winter 1973

We grew up and now in the army

with our weapon and helmet on our heads

We know how to make love to laugh and cry

We are men we are women

and we too dream about babies

This is why we will not pressure you we will demand of you

And we will not threaten you

When we were young you said promises need to be kept

We will give you strength if that is what you need

We will not hold back

We just wanted to whisper

We are the children of that winter in the year 1973

You promised a dove,

an olive tree leaf,

you promised peace

You promised spring at home and blossoms

You promised to fulfill promises,

you promised a dove

Today marks twelve years since the murder of Yitzhak Rabin, and last night saw a massive gathering for peace in Tel Aviv's central square:

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2007-11/04/content_7009258.htm

Among the many songs of peace and commemoration were the 'Song For Peace' which Diana already mentioned, which is the one Yitzhak Rabin himself sang twelve years ago just minutes before he was assassinated.

thanks for this genuine question... these days it is rare to hear other people speaking of peace, having open minds, and even the sharing of poems and songs... and an interest in the other. this is what will bring peace

in response to your question, i also think you will like yehuda amichai, a famous israeli poet. here are just a few of his poems

An Arab Shepherd Is Searching For His Goat On Mount Zion by Yehuda Amichai

An Arab shepherd is searching for his goat on Mount Zion

And on the opposite hill I am searching for my little boy.

An Arab shepherd and a Jewish father

Both in their temporary failure.

Our two voices met above

The Sultan's Pool in the valley between us.

Neither of us wants the boy or the goat

To get caught in the wheels

Of the "Had Gadya" machine.

Afterward we found them among the bushes,

And our voices came back inside us

Laughing and crying.

Searching for a goat or for a child has always been

The beginning of a new religion in these mountains.

Tourists by Yehuda Amichai

Visits of condolence is all we get from them.

They squat at the Holocaust Memorial,

They put on grave faces at the Wailing Wall

And they laugh behind heavy curtains

In their hotels.

They have their pictures taken

Together with our famous dead

At Rachel's Tomb and Herzl's Tomb

And on Ammunition Hill.

They weep over our sweet boys

And lust after our tough girls

And hang up their underwear

To dry quickly

In cool, blue bathrooms.

Once I sat on the steps by agate at David's Tower,

I placed my two heavy baskets at my side. A group of tourists

was standing around their guide and I became their target marker. "You see

that man with the baskets? Just right of his head there's an arch

from the Roman period. Just right of his head." "But he's moving, he's moving!"

I said to myself: redemption will come only if their guide tells them,

"You see that arch from the Roman period? It's not important: but next to it,

left and down a bit, there sits a man who's bought fruit and vegetables for his family."

Londoner admits that he moved to Israel just two years ago.

And this entitles him to present himself as an expert on the Middle East?

Very funny. With more experts like him, Israel could become ours without needing to fire a single shot.

Of course. Many.

But the Arabs sing such songs as the following, from last week, calling for Isreal's destruction:

“Oh mother, they destroyed our house

The house of my brother and my neighbor [2X]

Do not be angry, oh mother, we got more stones [2X]

We are Palestinians, we are not terrorists [2X]

We have the right, oh mother, we want to bring our home back

Hand in hand, and arm in arm, we will protect your land, Palestine

We will pray in Al-Aqsa and the [Church] of the Nativity, Islam and Christians

[2X]

We will liberate [Palestine] the Land of Religions.

And we will build Jerusalem of the homelands.

We are the sons of glory, oh mother …

We are Palestinians we are not terrorists

We are the students of freedom we are not terrorists

Oh Arab, oh noble son, your blood is in my blood and your business is my business

Peace will be achieved through unity, oh my brother and cousin

The land is Arab in history and identity

Palestine is Arab in history and identity

We will live in peace, oh mother, and our lives will not be wasted

Oh mother, they destroyed our house

The house of my brother and my neighbor [2X]

Do not be angry, oh mother, our rocks increased [in number]

From Jerusalem and Acre, from Haifa and Jericho and Gaza and Ramallah [2X]

From Bethlehem and Jaffa, from Be’er Sheva and Ramla, [2X]

from Nablus to the Galilee, from Tiberias to Hebron [2x]

If you dont mind i have a palestinian poem i'd like to post.

Is that alright?

----------------------------------------------------------

Palestinian am I

My identity,

For it is mine.

Palestinian am I.

I am the river that flows

Through my land.

I am the mountain

Noble and magnificent

Rising up out of chaos and destruction.

I greet the morning sun

That shines down on my fertile valleys

And parches my barren desert.

I am the red poppy and yellow daffodil

That grow upon my bloodstained hills.

I am the battle cry of freedom

That echoes through my corridors

And every fiber of my being.

Palestinian am I.

I am the proud owner of

Orange orchards and lemon blossoms

And honey bees, wild and free.

I am the David child wielding a single stone

Against the Israeli Goliath.

I am not afraid,

For truth is with me and God is on my side.

If I die,

A choir of angels will honor me

And later, my parents will grasp my outstretched hand

And join me in Heaven.

I am the tears of

Mothers weeping for their dead sons.

I am the footsteps of ancient prophets

Who foretold of doom and destruction

To those who torture and oppress me.

My brethren are the doves, hummingbirds and seagulls

That fly unhindered above my sea.

I am Palestinian,

Therefore, I am.

No one can take my identity

Away from me,

Not tanks or guns or bombs

Meant to desecrate me and kill me.

My country lives in me.

I am the cry of liberty

No matter what they take from me,

They can’t take away my identity

Or my dignity.

Palestinian am I.
