I have a friend who's a Russian Messianic Jew in Jerusalem. In Russia he used to be a journalist but in Israel he's mostly unemployed, but tries to make a living as a tour guide. He has lived in Jerusalem for about 12 years and knows it very well, especially the Christian sites. It is best to have a Christian tour guide to the Christian sites, and there aren't many - and a Messianic Jew is even better!
He is Constantin Soroka, e-mail constantin1@hotmail.com
Tel (0972) 67 367 652. You can find him in the Petra Hostel, just inside Jaffa Gate in the Old City, where he lives, or in the courtyard of Christ Church nearby.
He is a nice man and needs the work!

If you'd like to really see Jerusalem for what it is other than the things that all of the other tourists go to see, you might want to check out www.servas.com. If you join then you can stay with a family there. They'll show you around and you become part of their family for the time that you're there. I love servas and it is a great option for a budget traveler who wants to experience everything.

Send me your email address.
I will pass it on to a retired tour guide who has about 50 years of experience of showing parties round Israel.
He lives in Jerusalem.
If he is interested he will contact you.

seek for suggestion from lonely planet or yet another holiday handbook. consistent with probability seek for suggestion from including your church, or different Christians who've come to Israel. you have not have been given too plenty time so i might advise a visit to the ineffective Sea, or a visit to the Galillee. you are able to locate the Kinneret (i think of additionally talked approximately as Sea of Galillee). Spend a while wandering around by using your self... be risk-free and function a sturdy holiday
